sSs Family History:

The seeds for Super Scout Specialists,Inc. began in 1942 when Robert T Glancy SR. Began his 38 year career with International Harvester. Mr Glancy started with International Harvester in parts and handling Farm equipment in Parkersburg, West Virginia in the early 1940s. Later he moved to the Truck Division which is where he remained and retired as a Company District Truck Sales Manager in 1982. In the early 1970s Mr.Glancy helped a Mid-Ohio IH Scout dealer (Trail City) stock and sell more Scouts in that year than any other dealer in the world. Mr. Glancy had 7 children.

Four of his sons are involved with International in some way. Robert T Glancy Jr. And Joe Glancy were employed by International Harvester Truck Dealers in the 1970s. Joe Retired from a local Navistar International Dealer in 2021. (Bob) Robert T Glancy Jr. retired from International Trucks and joined the sSs team full time in 2007, retired in 2012 and came back to us in 2019. John Glancy was employed By Center City International Trucks in 1984 which is where the Super Scout Specialists began. In 1996 Rick Glancy with over 28 years automotive parts experience joined the Super Scout Specialists Team, Rick passed away in 2020.

John Glancy working under his brother (Bob - Parts manager at CCI) started catering to IH Scout and Light Truck customers in his spare time. This business ballooned into full line catalog and worldwide sales. In Late 1989 Navistar International took notice of John's accomplishments in supplying Scout & Light Truck parts. Navistar approached John and Rod Phillips (of Giddum up Scout of Colorado)about taking over the parts support business. John and Rod joined forces and formed Scout/light Line Distributors, Inc. to handle all OEM Scout & Light Line parts. Super Scout Specialists, & (formerly) Giddum Up Scout are the Retail and Aftermarket warehouse stores for SLL. Rod Phillips Retired from the business in 2001.

In 1990 John Glancy and family founded the Annual IH Scout and Light Truck Nationals Show and Swap Meet program. This show is a worldwide event that attracts hundreds of IH Vehicles and thousands spectators year after year.

Super Scout Specialists, Inc was Incorporated in 1991 with sole purpose of preserving IH Scout & Light Duty Trucks.

At the museum we are Proud to have on display the original official copy of the Scout US Patent that was given to Ted Ornas and IH in 1961.
